ACTIVE AGING

Dar L-Annunzjata allocates an activity coordinator to plan, take initiatives, organises, coordinates and implements active gaining activities for all our residents. Such activities target social inclusion as well as the wellbeing of the physical and mental capacity of the residents. While most of the activities are held inside the residence yet, other activities are organised and periodically implemented outside the residence.

Dar L-Annunzjata has been designed to host various spaces where activities can take place. It hosts a large rehabilitation unit, an indoor heated therapeutic pool, various multidisciplinary areas, dining/living areas on all floors, hair salon, library, two large open terraces on the 6th and 7th floor, roof garden and a beauty parlour.

Activities include:

  • Hydrotherapy pool exercises under supervision
  • Rehabilitation Unit exercises under supervision including treadmill, dumbbells, resistance bands, low impact cycling and parallel bars
  • Social events inviting publicly know individuals
  • Dancing
  • Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy
  • Tai Chi, Yoga, Meditation
  • Petting
  • Music Therapy
  • Crafts, painting, knitting
  • Exhibitions
  • Movies and TV programmes
  • Various table game activities
  • Baking
  • Gardening
  • Reading and story telling
  • Visits from various NGOs
  • Visits from children organisations like Schools (Outreach Programmes) and Scouts/Guides
  • Seasonal activities like Carnival, Halloween, Town’s feast, Easter and Christmas
  • Use of outside terraces for special events like watching feast fireworks accompanied by an outdoor dinner with music and dancing
  • Special occasions like Birthdays
  • Multisensorial activities using specially purchased mobile equipment thus can also be used for non-ambulatory residents confined to their beds or armchairs in their bedroom
  • Mass & religious activities
  • WIFI access enabling visual and auditory contact with loved ones
